　　农历(lunar calendar)五月初五，是中国民间传统的端午节(the Dragon Boat Festival)，也叫“五月节”。过端午节时，人们要吃粽子、赛龙舟。据说，举行这些活动，是为了纪念中国古代伟大的爱国诗人屈原。屈原是战国时期(the Warring States Period)楚国人。他主张改革楚国政治，联合各国，共同抵抗秦国。后来，他听到楚国被秦国打败的消息，非常悲痛，感到自己已经没有力量拯救祖国，就跳进汨罗江自sha了。

　　The fifth day of the fifth lunar month is a traditional Chinese folk festival-the Dragon Boat Festival， also known as the "Festival of the Fifth Month". On that day， people eat zongzi and hold dragon-boat races. It is said that these activities commemorate the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan in ancient China. Qu Yuan lived in the State of Chu in the Warring States Period. He maintained that Chu's politics should be reformed and that it should unite with the other states to resist Qin. Later， when he heard the news that Qin had defeated the State of Chu， he was full of grief and felt that he had no power to save his motherland， so he drowned himself in the Miluo River.

　　中国将努力确保到2015年就业者接受过平均13.3年的教育。如果这一目标得以实现，今后大部分进入劳动力市场的人都需获得大学文凭。在未来几年，中国将着力增加职业学院的招生人数：除了关注高等教育外，还将寻找新的突破以确保教育制度更加公平。中国正在努力最佳地利用教育资源，这样农村和欠发达地区将获得更多的支持。教育部还决定改善欠发达地区学生的营养。

　　China will strive to ensure that people seeking employment have received education of 13.3 years on average by 2015. If this goal could be accomplished， most of the people entering the labor market need to acquire the college diploma in the future. In the upcoming years， China will put emphasis on increasing the number of recruitment of vocational institutes. In addition to paying attention to higher education， China will seek new breakthrough to ensure fairer educational system. In the meantime， China is exerting every effort to utilize educational sources to the best， hence the rural and underdeveloped areas will get more support. The Ministry of Education also decides to improve the nutriment of students in underdeveloped areas.

　　北京计划在未来三年投资7，600亿元治理污染，从减少PM2.5排放入手。这一新公布的计划旨在减少四种主要污染源，包括500多万辆机动车的尾气（exhaust）排放、周边地区燃煤、来自北方的沙尘暴和本地的建筑灰尘。另有850亿元用于新建或升级城市垃圾处理和污水（sewage）处理设施，加上300亿元投资未来三年的植树造林（forestation）。另外，北京还将更严厉地处罚违反限排规定的行为。

　　Beijing is planning to invest 760 billion yuan to curb environmental pollution in the next three years， starting from cutting down the emission of PM 2.5. The newly announced plan aims to reduce four major pollution sources， including exhaust emissions of over 5 million motor vehicles， coal-burning of the surrounding areas， sandstorms from the north areas and the local construction dust. Another 85 billion yuan will be used to establish or update the facilities of municipal waste and sewage treatment. Besides， 30 billion yuan will be invested in the forestation program in the coming three years. What is more， Beijing will punish those who violate the emission-reduction regulations more severely.
